18,770 • Pleasantly light Japanese frame from 1978. No rust inside frame, treated with Frame Saver anyway. New lube in bottom bracket and headset. I use a section of tire tube to keep the elements out of these very open headsets.
I’ve been using green, waterproof automotive grease for city bikes. I grind
the teeth off the big ring with my belt/disc sander and then finish it with
a file breaking the edges. Running 39/19t, a bit easy, but sure makes the
big hills manageable. I think my friend will like the gearing. Used
polishing compound on the paint, it’s still sun faded but it looks a lot
better. The fenders set the paint color off rather nicely.
