Resto-mod of a ’66 Bottecchia Campione Del Mondo. The frame, found abandoned, was stripped down, polished then treated Permalac self-etching clear coat (still holding after 3 months). Finished off with; Factory Five cranks and lattice chain ring, Dia-Compe brakes and headset, boring wheels, Brooks saddle and grips.
The wheelset I had made for this didn’t fit (oops) and if fact nothing did ’cause the originals were 28 inch. Yep, 28. So I installed 27 x 1 1/4, long(er) reach brake calipers and extended brake pad mounts from BDop cycling.
If anyone’s listening – if you intend to abandon a significant vintage Italian bike anytime soon would you please make sure it’s a 700c frame? Thanks.
